TAGDAD / Support

Let’s get it sorted.

A little help with your files, your library or your purchase.

Talk to the developer.

For questions, bug reports and purchase-access problems, send an email to:

support@tagdad.net ↗

Your message goes to TAGDAD’s developer, Daniel Rymer. Please keep private media and passwords out of your email.

A useful support message includes…

  • Your TAGDAD version, from About TAGDAD.
  • Your macOS version.
  • The workspace and steps that led to the problem.
  • The exact error text, if one appeared.
  • A screenshot with personal paths and information hidden.

Try these first.

Where do I start with Plex-style naming?

Choose Media Library Tools, open your movie or episode folder and start with Auto Detect or the matching TV/Movies mode. Review the proposed names. The media-library guide explains the options, movie folders and the separate Season xx operation.

Why can’t TAGDAD open a folder?

Choose Open Folder… and select the location again. Check that removable drives are connected. The App Store edition needs your permission to access files and folders; renaming a parent folder may also require access to its containing directory.

My episode’s proposed name is wrong.

Check the detection mode and season/episode pattern. Leave Conservative Detection on for ambiguous names, and inspect the year and release-noise controls. TAGDAD works from filenames and does not retrieve an episode title online. Leave uncertain rows out of a rename until the preview is right.

Rename Parent Folder… is unavailable.

Select episode rows in Media Library Tools, then apply or discard pending file edits. TAGDAD needs eligible episode filenames to establish the season. Read the season-folder instructions before confirming.

I bought Full Unlock, but editing is still restricted.

Choose TAGDAD → Trial & Full Unlock… → Restore Purchases and complete Apple’s sign-in using the same Apple Account. Check for Apple dialogs behind the app. If Apple is awaiting purchase approval, restore after that approval is complete. Email support if the verified purchase still does not appear.

Can I stop a trial or avoid a charge?

The 14-day trial does not renew or charge you automatically. Full Unlock is a separate, optional one-time purchase. There is no TAGDAD subscription to cancel. Apple handles purchase billing and refund requests.

Why can’t I edit a particular tag?

Metadata capabilities depend on the file format. Some fields are read-only, and not all formats support ratings or decimal BPM. See supported formats. Avoid using a change in file extension as a way to convert audio formats.

Does removing a file from TAGDAD delete it?

No. Remove from Workspace removes the entry from the current workspace. Duplicate Finder does not delete source files. An applied rename, metadata edit or permission change is a separate operation that affects the file on disk.

Can I get back an applied change?

Use Undo while the last supported operation and its recovery information remain available. Undo is not a permanent history and may reject files changed elsewhere. Keep backups of important libraries. Read about review and undo.

A good place to start.

Open a folder. Try a few files. Make a little order.
